My research interest is attempting to understand the relationship between aspects of animal communication and the environment
I am currently studying how birdsong complexity relates to latitude and environmental features, such as climate and biodiversity I am also interested in conservation, ornithology, urban ecology, and natural history |
Projects
Song complexity can be measured by different metrics, such as repertoire size, song rate, and frequency bandwidth. Ecological and sexual selection pressures are known to influence these song metrics. In this project, our objective is to understand the relationship between song complexity and the environment, using the blue-black grassquit as a model species

In this exciting collaboration with Dr. Pedro Diniz, professor Regina Macedo, and others, we attempt to understand the adaptive function of duets and their coordination properties, using the rufous hornero as a model species

Together with Dr. Carlos Biagolini-Jr and others, we investigated the relationship between vegetation features, human disturbance, and the sexual display of the blue-black grassquit
